Crossing the Simpson Desert was a bucket-list achievement for both of us. Leaving the Red Centre behind, we headed into the remote reaches of the Simpson to clear skies, starry nights and not a single soul in sight. Out in the desert, dune after dune, those four days in the Simpson were the most isolated, yet most at-peace we had felt in a long, long time.
